It is widely used in hydro power stations with the head of 20--500 meters
The turbine is the hypoid bucket turbine with the characters that, the water flow output from nozzle flows along the tangent of the turning wheel and strikes on blades, the power therefore being made. For the reason that, when the water flows through the turning wheel, the pressure is the atmospheric pressure, therefore the install process of Pelton turbine does not constrained with the change of air condition, if the water flow is strong enough, it works even the water comes from high position. It is applicable for the power station with great load change and slight water flow and it is the only one of the impulse turbines that been used for large-scale units. Take pitch diameter of tangent of running wheel and center line of water flow as the standard diameter. Small-sized Pelton turbines are applicable for the hydraulic head range of 40-250m, and large-sized Pelton turbines are applicable for the power station with the hydraulic head range of 40-250m or above in some degree.
